Concrete repair and coating |
||
The illusions are gone - even concrete “rusts” of course it is not the concrete that rusts, but the steel reinforcements in the concrete. |

New concrete is highly alkaline with a pH value of 12.5. The alkalinity effects the corrosion protection of the steel reinforcements. If the alkalinity is reduced by external factors - CO2, SO2 etc., the steel begins to corrode in the presence of moisture and oxygen. This process starts even faster the less the reinforcing steel is covered by concrete. Effective protection is provided by coating systems which prevent the penetration of CO2 and SO2, and thus preserve the natural alkalinity of the concrete, while also keeping oxygen and moisture from the concrete. |
